Fabulous toys by Eugene Hontor
The Russian artist Eugene Hontor was born in Krasnodar in 1985. The peculiar representative of the modern naive art enjoys creating fantasy worlds, fantastic images and mythological animals, a variety of non-existent realities. My favorite theme is the fabulous animals.
His wonderful animals are made of velvet plastic. It is a modern material – air hardening polymer clay. After hardening it does not deform or change shape. It does not require baking and colors are easily mixed. Eugene began to work with velvet plastic in December 2006. He often uses wire, beads, stained glass paint, acrylic, watercolor and even colored pencils.
Most of his creations have wings just because he likes them. Even in his children’s drawings all the animals were winged. Wings are a symbol of dreams and freedom, striving for the sky and the sun. He can make great fur and feathers from velvet plastic.
The artist likes fantasy and creates fantastic and fabulous animals. Since his childhood Eugene created unseen beasts and collected their images from literature, films and paintings.
His animals are amazing – handwork, author’s technology and unusual material. They keep warm and bring joy, moreover, they are the original, unique gift for friends and family.
